SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY

PATACALA was created as a not-for-profit association to support different non-governmental social organizations. It is an independent association, with financial contributions from the private sector, both business and individual, whose main purpose is to contribute to financing development projects for shelters for abandoned dogs in the Arequipa region of Peru.

PATACALA means bare feet in the ‘Loncco’ language of the old-time farmers of Arequipa. This word has much meaning for these little animals, who wander day and night amid the upheavals of the city’s streets, subject to traffic and mistreatment by people, while their only means for survival, finding food and escaping from the constant risks are their four bare paws.

SUSTAINABLE SUPPORT

Pets provide company, affection and protection. They are also an important part of our lives, always present in moments of loneliness or simply to improve our mental and physical health, accompanying us on walks or sports activities in natural surroundings, as well as being a faithful ally of many disabled people.

Dogs provide us with a sense of emotional well-being through the unconditional love they give us; they teach us loyalty, connexion with the present and empathy for others, true friendship for a balanced mental life.

By protecting animals and respecting their rights, we are creating a world in which all forms of life are valued. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that animals live dignified lives free of suffering, just like human beings.

An animal shelter is a place where animals that have been rescued from a vulnerable situation – generally abandoned, mistreated or stray animals that have suffered an accident – receive protection, food and health care to provide them with a new opportunity for a better life with the possibility of finding an owner and home with affection and good treatment.

Rescuing animals is an act of courage, responsibility and compassion that contributes to building a more conscious, fair, social and joyful society; it thus improves our quality of life.

TRANSPARENCY

Each project is supported by a technical dossier prepared by the people in charge of the shelters and not-for-profit organizations, carefully selected for their professional and moral ethics in relation to the work they are doing. There will be a monthly follow-up of the development of the project with audiovisual conferences with all donors so that, wherever they may be in the world, they can be in direct contact with the people and the progress of the work they support. At the end of the project, a detailed report will be made on the results and the cost-to-benefit ratio that the financial contribution of the donors obtained through the PATACALA association.

MISSION

PATACALA is a not-for-profit organization from Arequipa, created to provide financial support for initiatives regarding the protection and care of vulnerable, abandoned or maltreated pets in order to achieve a more just, supportive and respectful understanding.

VISION

We believe that the contribution of the private sector, both individuals and responsible private companies, for good sustainable development in their internal and external environments, directly or indirectly, is essential; PATACALA is, therefore, an efficient and safe way to invest funds in the image of corporate or individual responsibility, while providing support for social and humanitarian actions in the society of Arequipa.

VALUES

EXCELLENCE

We propose to establish and achieve higher goals every day to have a greater impact in our social and humanitarian actions and activities.

RESPECT

We wish to create awareness among the population of its civic and moral duties; we believe in people’s dignity, creativity and ability to participate actively in order to improve their quality of life, providing compassion and well-being by means of an enhanced civic culture in their environment.

Transparency

We manage and use 100% of the contributions and economic resources directly to achieve our goals and projects, without salaries or administrative and bureaucratic expenses.

TEAMWORK

We are confident that effective and lasting solutions come from the efforts and abilities of the beneficiaries, partners and collaborators directly in charge of the shelters, without intermediaries.

SUSTAINABILITY

We empower individuals and institutions so that their own initiatives, actions, projects and resources may continue in the long term with a process of continuous improvement.

We thank all our current and future donors for their trust in this new organization and tool for the growth of sustainable social and civic development in the White City.
